Gambella Elshadai Center

The Gambella National Regional State is a region rich in natural resources, a nation with a unique language and culture with a distinct national identity and culture. The region is known as the ‘Desert Paradise’ with a comfortable and fertile landscape with undulating virgin land and plenty of water. However, it is noted that the youth waste their energy and ability instead of converting this natural grace into food and resources.

As a result, the regional government has set up a five-year project that will benefit 65,000 youth in the region, hence, project agreement was made, in partnership with the federal government and stakeholders to bring about radical change in this socioeconomic crisis to enable youth to become productive citizens and utilize the resources of the region..

The project focuses mainly on training and is divided into two phases.

In the first phase, training will focus on mental wellbeing, life skills, job creation and leadership, health, gender, civics and other training topics.

In the second phase, vocational training will be provided in modern agriculture, livestock, agricultural processing industry, trade and services, textiles, mechanics, construction machinery, automotive, metal and woodworking, construction industry and other areas of training. Among these topics, the agriculture sector is of particular interest.

As a result, the construction and renovations of the center are being carried out successfully in the region’s large and fertile training center, and plans are set to admit first round trainees to the center in 2019.
